Well, for Sue and myself, creating Jolly Jacks must be one of the most amazing things we have done. Not only are we in a fabulous location, right on the Mayflower Marina, with spectacular views, right on the Devon and Cornish borders, with the sea just there. We have the most amazing people come visit us from all over Devon, as well as the friendly bunch of folk who have their yachts moored. Jolly Jacks is gaining popularity, and we are forever grateful for it. We have changed our lives in such a short time. We relocated from Leicestershire and Wiltshire, left family and friends, to realise our vision for a bar bistro; Jolly Jacks in Plymouth, Devon. After many years of being on their own, two old friends met and began to work together. It's called fate. We are living testament of taking life by the throat, taking a risk in these risky times, but using our life experience to deal with it, and having fun, a laugh and a giggle along the way. Although it is hard work, we have a lot of fun and enjoy working together. With our family, friends, and new acquaintances, we are living our dream in sunny Devon. Great Food, Great Location, Great Company!

About Plymouth

Plymouth ( PLI-məth) is a port city and unitary authority in Devon, South West England. It is located on Devon's south coast between the rivers Plym and Tamar, about 36 miles (58 km) southwest of Exeter and 193 miles (311 km) southwest of London. Plymouth's history extends back to the Bronze Age, evolving from a trading post at Mount Batten into the thriving market town of Sutton, which was formally re-named as Plymouth in 1439 when it was made a borough. The settlement has played a significant role in English history, notably in 1588 when an English fleet based here defeated the Spanish Armada, and in 1620 as the departure point for the Pilgrim Fathers to the New World. During the English Civil War, the town was held by the Parliamentarians and was besieged between 1642 and 1646.
